Night Prayer: Week 4
Season of Easter
All stand and make sign of cross
Prayer Leader:
God, come to our assistance.
Response:
Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia.
Prayer Leader:
We pause for a moment to reflect on our day,
bringing to mind where we could have trusted in God
and allowed the Holy Spirit to work through us,
so that we could have been more Christ like.
Penitential Rite
Brief moment of silence to examine our day.
I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
All strike their breast
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore, I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Prayer Leader:
May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins, and bring
us to everlasting life.
Amen.
Hymn of Gratitude:
Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly-minded,
For with blessing in his hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
Our full homage to demand.
King of kings, yet born of Mary,
As of old on earth he stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture,
In the body and the blood;
He will give to all the faithful
His own self for heavenly food.
At his feet the six-winged seraph,
Cherubim, with sleepless eye,
Veil their faces to the presence,
As with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia,
Alleluia, Lord Most High!
Antiphon 1
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Psalm 67
May we continually
welcome God’s mercy and blessing
in order that we may demonstrate
God’s purpose throughout the earth
and God’s redemptive power
to the creatures of this world.
And may it ultimately resolve
in all of God’s children lifting their voices
in praise to their Lord and God.
The nations of the earth would truly
abide in peace and sing for joy
if they would allow God to be their God
and if we would direct our destinies
according to God's will.
Then the inhabitants of this world would surely
lift their voices in praise to their Lord and God.
The earth continues to receive
the abundance of God
God's blessings are all around and with us.
May every mountain and valley, plain and forest,
every city and every suburb,
echo with the praises for our God.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever.
Amen.
Antiphon 1
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
